To add to this.. Some will think that something good just going to happen since next year is election.. Not sure what makes them think that..
Some are extremely negative-- They will say doesn't matter what you guys do,nothing will happen.
People just don't want to soil their hands in cleaning their house but want others to do it for them.
Lot of people consider it below dignity to do something about GC related stuff, many just want to live they way they are, no ambitions, no motivation to work towards a change.

That's not correct. Everybody pays UEI including the H1B people also. But if you are AOS status, the AOS demands you be in a job but it has nothing to do with UE benefits.

Agree with you 100%. I have been waiting patiently all along hoping something good would happen for EB3. I am talking to my employer if they can port my case to EB2. I have a master's degree and about 13 years of experience (8 years in the current job). My only concern is if the new EB2 labor or I140 doesn't get approved for some reason, can I fall back to my current EB3 application. I don't want to jeopardize my current application just by deciding to port to EB2. Any suggestions?
If I were you, I would make it clear to the employer that you qualify for tier 1 in UK and educate them on benefits of tier 1 vs waiting for green card then go from there. It worked for me.

The word on the street is that the Cantwell amendment is not a part of the list of amendments that are currently floating around in Senate offices. There are 20 of them.
Even Bernie Sanders has one more coming (Yes, it is related to H1B). But Cantwell amendment is not there in the list of 20.

Look at the unity in our diversity...for a moment while reading some of the comments I forgot I was in the US and looking at an supposedly elite forum...Bravo!! Keep it up Indians (Tamilians, Gujaratis, Marathis, Bengalis, Biharis, etc..)
One more thing, if you are upset with a person who misbehaved with you (in this case, rudely told you he didn't know any language other than Hindi), then logic tells me I should be upset with that person and not the reason (in this case, language) itself.
I belong to a Hindi speaking part of India, and I have lived in Pune, Bangalore, and Hyderabad. I've had people tell me very rudely to talk in the native languages of these areas and I've tried, sometimes successfully and sometimes, not so much. The rudeness of a few members of the community never led me to form a general opinion. I've very close friends from all over India.
It is my opinion that one should try to learn the local language. It bodes well for everybody and makes life easier. As matured people that we are, I think this is a very trivial issue to fight among ourselves or get emotional.
I never knew Hindi is a local language in US:D Moreover I dont have anything against Hindi or any other language. Its the personal experience with people on more than one occasion.

Buddy...take it easy on yourself. I can feel your pain, waiting for almost 10 yrs now...still no sign that this wait will end anytime soon.
But rather than blaming the system and whining, i keep myself content with the fact that no one is forcing me to stay in this country- it's my own choice that i want to continue taking their bullsh*t.

You are right that it is a long wait...for me ten years is almost coming, but no relief yet. I hate to get these documents renewed every year. It is a vicious cycle whole year round to update one or the other document in different points of time. It is becoming a nightmare when we could do something useful instead.
And yes you are very right that I am responsible for my own choice, but after spending 10 years of my prime life and youth I think there are vey few options otherwise. More importantly when you have kids grown up and more assimilated here. You don't want to force your will on them. I hope you understand what I mean.
BTW, I am surprised that people have given me red dots from behind. Talk to me directly if you think I am wrong.

I agree with most of your post, but to state that 5yrs of wait is not a catastrophic delay - you have to be really very patient, and frankly unimaginitive to know what you can do with your green card.
Going forward, only people hit with retrogression will wait for 5-7 years. And if you look at the percentage of people getting a green card, a large number of them will get it in a couple of years, while the rest of us will suffer the nonsensical country cap.
Companies hire individuals not only because they can get the job done, but also because they see that the individual will evolve in his/her role going forward. Which company will continue to keep you in the same position for 5 years, doing the same thing day after day? You have to be just dumb enough not to get promoted and with zero ambition to succeed.
Understand that we are stuck. This is not what we want.
There are companies that do not want you to evolve and despite your abilities keep you stuck in EB3: that way they get more out of you, unless you decide to quit and take further risks.

Just like IRS will be mailing checks to provide stimulus to the economy, IV bills need the stimulus of your checks to move forward.Now that Stimulus checks are in the mail, it's time for the community to loosen the purse strings and contribute to something that will benefit you immensely.
Let's not let this historic opportunity go waste over a sum of $50 or $100, something many of us spent just to get to the nearest available USCIS recognized doctor for our AOS medical tests. If these bills pass the savings are much greater - EAD/AP/DL renewal fees, FP fees, AC21 fees (whenever you change the job) etc. Now that the new Medical form has been posted - with additional TB testing - old tests may be considered invalid after a period of time ( I'm not saying they'll be, but knowing USCIS anything's possible). Not to mention job opportunities lost due to a missing plastic card - every one of us, EAD users, has at least one experience, where we couldn't apply or were denied opportunities for not having GC.
Considering the cost vs. benefits ratio, and the low risks unvolved (you aren't investing whole of your 401(k) here), let's not act 'pennywise and pound foolish'. Lets not fall victim to self-defeatist pessimism and thriftiness. If ,God forbid, the bills don't pass you are losing just 50 bucks, 100 bucks... something you'd have lost when the mail-in rebate check got lost in mail (or not got posted at all!). It's not like any of us will be losing our retirement savings or all our stocks. I'm sure no one will foreclose their homes because of it :-)
We raised more than 30K when there was no bill (Omnibus), now that there is a bill under discussion, I can't see any reason why we are taking so long to cross a modest 10K?!

I agree... i dont think its wise to call USCIS about the VB fiasco... the operators are probably minimum wage paid and are reading off of a book/compter screen.. not the ppl who can make decisions.. if it werent the us govt, we would have calling up even lower paid workers in India/Philipines and hearing from them... instead of calling USCIS, please spread the word, create awareness in the political system, press and media..

Good Idea...I had the same thought.....
We should do this rally in all the 52(?) states on one day to make it more historic!....This way the Local State chapters will get motivated and media will always be there on the state capital.....
Ideal would be a Friday afternoon....So people who don't want to take a day off, can just take few hours off and drive to the rally location...
People/Media will forget these rallies very soon, Once some OJ news comes up....we should keep on knocking the door!!! crying baby gets milk :) ....lets keep trying till our goals met!
