Why don't you send PM to IV core members and discuss the issue with them? This may be your starting point. Discuss with them about IVs position on this issue and how soon they may take up this issue with high priority. Also they may advice you about the right persons (senators/Congressmen) to contact etc.
I advice do not use this forum to communicate with IV core team as you already know very well that there are many people who are already scared to lose their chance if your labor is approved.

I agree with you, my first reaction too was that this is practically impossible. Bill Gates was suggesting the proposal of "Instant GC" for anyone who completes their Master's degree in US. So may be some day this will become a reality.
I dont know how they are going to deal with immediate family members in that scenario. This does not sound like a bad idea but not everyone is lucky enough to afford doing their Master's in US. A number of them come on H-1B visas. Bill Gates was not against H-1B program.
I think there is a general consensus that H-1B program is being abused by employers. IEEE is suggesting to wrap it up while others are suggesting to keep the program but fix it, by providing the flexibility based on the current market needs and enforcing tough monitoring on the employers.

Here is an update on Visa recapture from Aman:

There are many other organizations working on behalf of various groups. If no immigration provision has passed in more than last one year, does it mean that all those organizations are also ineffective? We all know that this is a world of instant gratification but please understand that there are groups who go to DC to get their issues addressed and they wait for 2, 3 -5 years before anybody would start listening to their issues. You see, just to explain using an analogy, Microsoft is working to get H-1b numbers increased long before Immigration Voice started. If Microsoft has not been able to get Congress to increase H-1B numbers, does it mean that Microsoft is no longer an effective corporation? Other companies/coalitions have stopped pushing for temporary H-1B increase as they do not want to be in the bad books of committee chairmen and the leadership offices by trying to sneak temporary relief that divides the supporters of CIR. Leadership wants support for CIR and want all sides to wait for CIR. And not doing so and trying to get interim relief before CIR would put them in bad books of Senate and House leadership, which no one wants coz if CIR fails, then after CIR, these offices will not co-operate with any group that tried to take away support from CIR. So it would be counter-productive politically to do things that take away good stuff from CIR. Also, if you think that any effort in the final week could help in anyway, then let me to share with you that most provisions and their language are decided much in advance and last minute efforts almost never yield any result on the Hill."

EB3 porting is a loophole like labor substitution.
when I came here 6 yrs ago, I had the option of applying in EB3 with a top 4 consulting US firm and I did not want to go that route. I waited until 2010 to apply in EB2.
Looks like People should come to the US as freshers or with 1-2 yrs experience > Apply in EB3 > Gain 5-6 yrs in experience > Port and BOOM, you have your GC.
How can people claim PD porting at a later date when they were not eligible on that specific date in the first place at that time? I know it's legal just like Labor Substitution.
You came here 6 years ago and applied for your GC only in 2010. Didnt you find an employer who would file one for you. And you also know if your GC gets screwed for some reason, then you are out of the US also.

I did not go to DC because i did not want to get the green card this way.I grew upwatching aunts,uncles coming from USA bearing gifts.I grew up watching cousins go for USA for higher studies.It used to be so special. Now its become so cheap. Now you guys have literally taken it to the streets. There's no difference between those illegal immigrants and us. This H1visa has ruined it for really smart students who come here on F1 with full scholarship.

I�ve been laid off as of Friday last week.
My employer started laying off people an year ago and there were too many cycles so far. I was immune to all those layoffs until Friday. They eliminated everybody in my team, 15 people in total.
I am in the final stage of my GC and I have 2 year EAD. My H1 is expiring in March and my (ex) employer already paid my Attorney for the 3 year extension. They have decided to extend my H1 and paid for the expenses. But in the mean time, they were forced by the investors to show profitability and hence the layoffs.
My (ex) employer is based in Massachusetts and my Labor Certification was done from this location.
I have received job offers from some of my employer�s clients. However, they are based in other States (CO, OH & WA for instance) and they might not be able to do my H1. One of them is interested in hiring me on a contract basis, since they had frozen new hiring.
Is taking a job outside of Massachusetts impact my pending I-485? or Will it violate my Labor Certification conditions? I couldn�t find an answer for this anywhere.
Also, can I take contract jobs for the time being?
I sent out an email to my Attorney with all these questions. But, he is not available until Tuesday next week.

I suggest, some of us send another email asking Ombudsman about this. Let us see what kind of response we get. It will be helpful to find if they got the data they requested in 2004. If they have not got it in about 4-5 years, are we also going to wait for a long time to get the data?
This case should be sent to Ombudsman, perhaps by IV, clearly stating that information is needed for decision making on PD cut off dates announced every month, which does not seemingly exist. They need it for their internal working, not for an external query by a client.
BTW, I believe they have grossly underestimated the cost. How did they estimate the cost if they don't even know what is a PD.
What is needed, is not just a computer query. Most of the information (e.g. Priority Date of an applicant) exists only in paper format, perhaps just on AOS applications we submit. For monthly bulletins they only guess based on general progress in preceding months. Isn't clear from faster cutoff date movements in later part of the year, followed by retrogression. The fact is that information sought is neither readily available, nor can it be found that easily.
Even if a lot of waiting folks collect funds as suggested in this thread and send them, how do you know what you get is accurate. Most likely it wont be, due to poor understanding of what is needed, and no way to confirm on how they extract this information.

Do not depend the processing of your papers entirely to the lawyer or their paralegal. Be proactive. Always demand a copy of the application prior to the actual filing. You will be shocked to see so many errors. It's also good to check IV news once in a while. If it wasn't for IV updates, our company would not have been able to correct our lawyer's mistake in filing for my H1 extension. He insisted that USCIS never grant a 3-year extension even if I-140 approved. I showed him IV success stories and he apologize for his error.
Remember, lawyers look at their clients as $$$. The more services they can create, the more $$$ they can get.

I flew Air France several years ago.
Had a bad experience. They had not issued a Paris-Delhi boarding pass to me in Atlanta. They said that I would have to get that boarding pass in Paris itself.
In Paris- they refused to give me the boarding pass- stating the flight was overbooked and that I am checking in 'late'. Acknowledged that the boarding agent was wrong in Atlanta. Bumped me to the next flight several hours later.
They have lost all my business since then. I have not flown Air France since then (and likely never will)

I just called Lamar smith's office, a lady took the call and once I mentioned that I'm calling on behalf of immigration voice, she immediately responded with the three bill numbers and said that she will pass on the message to the rep.

I tried to apply for the SSN for my wife and my child about 6 weeks ago.
As expected, the officer refused even to accept the application ("H4 don't get
SSNs"). I would have submitted the application by mail, but this is not
possible since I have to show my passport to prove that I am legaly in the
country. I insisted that I have a legal reason to apply and even if she thinks
this is not a legal reason, they have to accept the application.
The head of the local office finally accepted the applications. I was told
that the regional office thinks that the Stimulus Payment is not a federal benefit.
One week later the application was declined. The reason given was
that "the SSA doesn't issue SSNs for tax purposes." I had included with
my application a cover letter with the relevant parts of the law and why I
think the SSA should issue the SSNs.
I will now ask for reconsideration. If the SSNs are still declined, I am not sure
about the legal process. Normally, there are two more levels before
a social security case goes to court. One can ask for reconsideration
by an administrative law judge. I think this doesn't cost anything for me,
but I am not sure if this also applies to cases like applying for SSNs.
(Usually it is about the payment of benefits.)
There seems to exist something like a legal definition of federal benefits
(see Wikipedia). I am not sure if the Stimulus Payment would satisfy
this definition and if this definition is the one used in the social security act.
