heard you loud and clear,
and usually take complaints very well.
but when someone only complains and spends time undermining us and our efforts elsewhere and when they return only to take potshots...i reserve my right. you are actively harming this organization by your actions and it's not hidden to us, therefore you are retarding our goals- and those will benifit all 25,000 here- active, passive etc. not every person is creating value here and that is the fact. your attitude is childish, i will say it again. it's childish because your purpose is not to improve things in any way or help us achieve our goals but to prove some silly point about how you were treated in the past. but this is the last time i'm bothering, i want to move beyond this. some of us have better things to do than lurk around and wait to score personal points. you have already stated you have no wish to contribute further in any way. so be it.
also know that free speech is all well and good. but no organization will allow it's forums to be used to undermine it's objectives. try doing it on numbers usa or alipac and see how long you last.
As I heard, the discussions on this forum do not come under "free speech" as these are not something that the Government is trying to regulate against the People.

Indeed it makes no sense that people who have families to support get nothing, while those who do not have families get it.
Anyway, it is not over yet. I have been able to get congress to approve checks for military families, so anything is possible.

Bunnyboy is a member of IV's forum and he had a magic sequence number to call USCIS, that will hit the USCIS IO not the CS dept.
Fdbl another name of fragomen. I wanted to say that fragomen lawers are well respected within USCIS. The IO was very polite after hearing my case was filed though fragomen.
Till now i or my wife does not have any RFE throughout our L1/L2 to GC. Now GC is in hand.
I know they are little slow, but you have to followup to make it fast. One thing is they donot take shortcut in process. Thats the reason many are frustrated. Desi lawers and companies can go to any extent and we should not compare that with a professional law firm.
I am wondering your logic for using "desi lawyers". They graduated through the same system as any other "book smart" attorney in the "smart" fragomen system. I think it is always a negative to go through a large law firm. An association with a large firm must not be confused with efficiency. Who knows...might be freebies which they provide to HR grp of the large firms keeps them in the picture.......................

I am in a lot of stress. Please help out if possible.
Six years on my H1B expire in April 2008. I just got laid off from company A. My last day of work will be May 31st. I have LC and I-140 approved with company A.
If I join company B starting June, and transfer my H1B to B, can it extend my H1B beyond 6 years based on the approved I-140 I had with company A? If yes, will it be for one year or three years?
Gurus please help. I will be grateful.
Thanks
Hello Chitta:
Please check the following link from "Immigration.com".
http://boards.immigrationportal.com/showthread.php?t=240313
As per it, you can get a 3 yr-extension as long as your existing company doesn't revoke your I-140 (and it wouldn't as you are not leaving on your own). So you should be fine. Good-luck for your next job.

I really don't think an attorney will give out their client information. They might even face a law suite for doing that. How would you feel if you found out that your attorney gave out your personal info??
One of the ways, I was thinking of to increase membership to the newly created Nebraska chapter is to approach the local attorney's office and get contact information of the pending applicants from them . More targeted approach .
Now before I take action, few questions.
1. Am I kidding myself :-( no attorney would part with such information, Client-Attorney privileges.
2. Has it been attempted by anyone before??

Congress quietly returns to immigration (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showpost.php?p=167577&postcount=1090) A broad overhaul failed this summer, but an array of smaller measures is under discussion, including ways to legalize certain workers By Nicole Gaouette (nicole.gaouette@latimes.com) | Los Angeles Times Staff Writer,

Republicans also are considering a bill that would overhaul visas for high-skilled foreigners.
Senate Republicans are also discussing ways to increase the number of visas for high-skilled workers, now capped at 65,000 a year.

I know the discussion is about how many visas are remaining and we are trying to estimate it based on approved labour petitions. While the PERM data may be more reliable I have my serious doubts about the pre-PERM data. My PD is Jul 2004 and my case does not even show up in the 2004 MDB file. I think the 905 number is a severe understatement.
It 'll not be in 2004 file ..check 2007 - when your Labor got approved.

I think we should write in only one thread about this VB mess until it is over. New users like me are getting hard time to find out the latest development of the VB issue. Either we should start a new thread or stick with only one. regardless of the subject/issue, we should post all our message into one single thread so that every one is on the same page.

Pretty much every one is the forum here is happy to receive green dots and loathe when some one gives then a red dot. I know very well that a green/red dot is not such a big deal. What's the red or green dot really mean, when we have bigger things in life to worry about. But the fact is that getting a green dot makes me happy. I am sure it makes pretty much any body in this forum happy at least for a couple of hours.
Now, why don't we use this basic human nature to increase contribution to IV?
Here is my thought:
I will contribute $10 to IV, when ever any one gives me a green dot; subject to a maximum contribution of $50 a month. I will go to my 'User control' panel on a specific date (which shall remain a secret with me) and will donate (# of green dots - # red dots) x $10 to IV.
I welcome everybody in the forum to use my logic and idea with any changes that they see fit in their specific situation.

Forming human chain may involve actually holding hands.. and might turnout to be unhygienic to many. How about hunger strike - for a day or two - and it is also good for health. A better option would be -DONATE a day's salary to IV on a particular day..I am in for it: Nov 9th?
I am not being jsut sarcastic here: just curious to know, of the 20K+ people who had directly benefited by IV between July 17 and Aug 17, how many were there in the rally? July fiasco is the one that has made many immi community professionals to look up to IV mainly because PEOPLE directly benefited from IV's efforts. Still it would be worthwhile to analyze the response and attitudes of IV users/members in general, and fiasco beneficiaries in particular, before getting carried away by the euphoria of the moment to plan for rallies in state capitals, SFO etc.
Just because you can go on a city's roads with permission, does not mean that you should do it compulsively nor over do it. SJ and DC rallies made the point: caught the media and lawmakers' attention. Do one every month, then it will be a joke.

Those who had real genuine reasons will attend next time. Those feeling guilty of not attending, contribute 100, 200 whatever....[ I'm not at all pushy here, just requesting] that'll help IV more than posting your reasons. IV core are not "Agony Uncles" or "Agony Aunts" to counsel us on our personal problems or guilt issues!
Don't get me wrong, I sympathize with those who had backpain, who were forced by the bosses etc. There is NOTHING IV CAN DO ABOUT IT (real genuine reasons). For those complaining about money, there was a thread on IV to sponsor tickets, provide accomodations etc. Why didn't you use those?
So whoever posts their "Confession" next, please sweeten it by showing you've done your penance - by posting details of your latest contribution to IV, done to atone your absence. That way, it will it help you get over your guilt (if you really have it), and also shutup those who question your genuineness.
if the movers of this thread have no objection i would like to close it.
i hope though in the meanwhile we can turn the discussion to more productive directions. there is much to be done yet.

Most countries do not have 9,800 EB applicants every year - in fact, most countries use well under 1,000.
The total number of applicants from other countries can be derived from roughly estimating number if H1 holders, adjusting for Indians and Chinese, and then dividing by 2 (50% of H1Bs never end up getting a green card), and then multiplying by 2 to adjust for derivatives. The bottom line - there are visas available in EB2 ROW and EB1 categories (which are current, meaning, undersubscribed), that are getting redistributed to EB3 ROW. This is why EB3 in total is using more than its share of 140,000 EBs. In fact, I believe the dates will be moving pretty fast on EB3 ROW, it will probably get all current in a couple of years.
From the last report of FLC.
80,029 cases certified between Oct. 1, 2005, and Sep. 30, 2006.
55 % were issued for workers from just the five countries of India, China, South Korea, Philippines, and Mexico.

Hi guys,
This is what my lawyer said.
If you/spouse have used your EAD or are using your EAD then your "Current Immigration Status" is "Adjustment of Status Pending/Parolee". If not then it is either H1B or H4.
If you/spouse have actually travlled outside the US and re-entered using the Advanced parole, then your "Manner of Last Entry" is "Parolee". If not then it is what it says on your I-94 (H1B or H4).
You do **NOT** need the $80 Biometric fee for the Advanced Parole.

By exempt, you mean exempt from the cap, right? Does this mean that you still need an employer to sponsor you even if you have an advanced degree? Or can you self-petition as in the CIR?
