My 2 cents.
From what I have read and learned from my experience, the dwelling (house/condo/apt, etc) prices are sensible and affordable (read payable) if it is between 2-3 times household annual income. I think this applies universaly with few exceptions.
Average household (family) income in India metro cities is around 6-7 INR lacs. For folks working in IT, it would be 'X' % more depending on his/her work. Let's take liberal amount of 12 lacs p.a.
This means that buying a property for price over INR 36 lacs would carry significant risk of defaulting. I have heard many of my friends give me argument that our income will grow significantly over years and should be able to manage higher loan amounts.
I am really aghast at the rate at which NRI's are investing in India. I can speak to Mumbai, where there are thousands of NRI bought properties that are vacant for years and there is no justifiable ROI. Having realised that there is no ROI due to resale or renting, sooner or later they will start pulling out their hard earned money. I wouldn't be surprised to see many foreclosures, in years to come, and RBI may have to bail out ICICI, IDBI, etc - a scenario similar to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
I have thumb rule for myself - Don't buy property which is 3 times more than current annual income.

Thanks for the reply. I hope that this time it gets approved. I think the best approach to this is to show the timeline of your petition and I-485, with accompanying evidence for each point in time.
I guess that the supervisor of the IO processing your case did not even bother to review the MTR. As I understand (correct me if wrong), MTRs go to the same IO who denied your case but it has to be reviewed and approved by the Supervisor.

IV will become ready for elections when we have real candidates with real faces. I request all real candidates to publish their photos and accomplishments, their ideas for the organization; so that we can choose the best person for the job.
Any volunteers? Why don't I see a single volunteer! Seriously, can we have an election without candidates?!
Pictures and videos will come out if we as an organization are ready/serious to hold elections. Otherwise this is not going anywhere. Everytime someone questions the stratergy and leadership, blaming back members for inaction is the standard excuse. Let's stop whining and do something. We are being funded and we have a great member base. Leadership and stratergy is the only deficiency.

It is easy and potentially justifiable to feel some frustration. As it relates to the green card, I am in a similar situation to most who visit and share their views on this board.
I view the Universe and everything that is contained therein to be perfect - there can be no imperfections. I find comfort in that thought and focus my attention on the following:
feeling grateful for all that I have; doing my work to the best of my ability; taking the risks I believe I should take; being resilient; enjoying my life more; being patient; caring more; comparing less
This is merely a statement of my beliefs - this works for me. It is not intended to offend anyone nor is it a solution to anyone's woes.

What this means, is that the december visa bulletin is the correct time to expect a major jump on the priority date. since the leftover visas (EB1 & EB2) from other countries for the first quarter will be used for the oversubscribed countries.
Considering 7% country quota and 26.7% EB2 quota of 140k, we get 2800 visa for EB2 annually. For first month this number comes out to be 234. Considering 1.2 dependents this means 106 families get GC under EB2.
I am sure they have more than 106 cases before the cutoff of 1 April 2003. This may also include people delayed by background checks.

I think I have been very lucky so far. I don't think USCIS processes based on anything concrete, I think it's a little random. Or maybe I am just lucky.
I applied for PERM in Sep 2006 - EB3 - India.
I got approved for PERM in Mar 2007.
I applied for I-140 and I-485 concurrently in Jun 2007.
I-140 got approved July 20, 2007 and on July 23, 2007 I received all 4 receipts for I-140, I-485, EAD and AP. So my approval came before my receipt. I live in California so everything went to Nebraksa.
Lawyers emailed saying they also received the EAD card yesterday July 23, 2007.
Now I have to wait for only AP and Adjustment. And I still have 5 years left on my H1-B (2 years on this visa and then another extension).
So I say, anything is possible. I wake up every morning and pray to USCIS because they made my life better :) :) :)

guys i think USCIS is not interested in giving EB 3 guys GC...
as mostly EB 3 guys r ppl with Bachelors (and less than 5 yrs exp) or who are stuck with EB3 due to there company (like me)...
EB 2 guys r mostly with ppl having masters degree from US...so i guess they will definetly get more preference than eb3...
I guess US wants to raise there economy by giving GCs...so that ppl more ppl will buy houses....
I hope something happens for EB3 also...but I guess in Oct bulletin PD for EB3 will b some month in 2001....

For some reason - they see heavey demand now and it may not be the case in next bulletin. Still they beleive its diffcult to predict any dates for EB3 before mid Sept. They are working and intention are there to help EB3 applicants. That leads to make me believe that dates for EB3 - India would move to somewhere Nov-Dec 2002 to Jan-Feb 2003 in next bulletin.

The only harsh thing he said was that Indian education was awful. Everything else he said was extremely positive especially when he talked about the amazing progress India is making. I think he said that because he was saying that India is racing ahead and Indians are very successful entrepreneurs. (I am not sure).

If you are objective, can you argue that much of the 350K engineers graduated in India are not up to par. No offense to the graduates, however the schools are often just not up to par. Much of this graduation is private for profit colleges, frequently owned by a few investors or families.
US Engineering colleges are much better accredited in my view.
That said however, India being a much larger country (population wise) there are probably more than 70K good quality engineering grads. coming out of India annually.

I fully support this donor forum. there should be some incentive for members who donate. they are not doing it because they have lots of money to spare, but they sacrifice because they believe in this cause. I don't think $25 is going to break anyone's bank. Just sacrifice something that you consume/enjoy every week, and donate that.
It's a pity that even with about 25K members, we cannot raise a minimal amount. People need to realize they cannot simply enjoy the benefits of someone else's labor.

This data will be sought by all of us but if we are not ready to support the effort, it will be tough to invest in it. The subscriptions will help us continue IV initiatives with more zeal and we will know that a lot of members support us.

Just noticed there is an update on LUD on my previous EAD (not the current one). Not sure what that means though. Still waiting for response after sending interfiling letter.
I got an email saying that "On December 2, 2010, we ordered production of your new card" today. Me and my wife both got emails. Our wait (green in our life) for so many years came to a very happy end. My hearty wishes to all the friends who have been waiting in the queue to have best of luck.

And the situation prior to surge wasnt any better either. I remember in 2006, the PD for India EB3 was April 2001 and now its Nov 2001. :mad:
This was directed to people who were current. If you are from India, China, Mexico, Philippines, get used to waiting. Your backlog is due to numerical limits. And this won't change (the way I see it)
